Sweet grass grows in wet prairies, margins of wet meadows and fens, wet fields, and sometimes along lakeshores or roadsides. It does best in wet to moist sand, sandy loam, or silty loam. Flower stems arise early in the summer, then produces long, fragrant leaves during summer. Long used for fine basket weaving.
